Digital skills learning for young and old

The digital divide is a global challenge that impacts many countries. With 14 million people facing some form of digital exclusion—whether due to limited internet access, low computer literacy, or difficulty using devices— France is no exception. Many people in the country are left without essential digital opportunities and prevent individuals from fully benefiting from technology. This is a gap that has widened since the Covid19-pandemic, when a lot of work structures, education, and daily life routines were directed to the online space. Our partnership with Huawei enabled us to install a Digitruck in France, helping to address exactly this challenge, and to connect the unconnected in our digitalized world.

The France Digitruck is just like our other Digitrucks that are active in remote areas: it is repurposed from a used shipping container and entails a fully solar-powered mobile classroom. Designed to accommodate 20 workstations, it is equipped with Huawei computers, tablets, smartphones, and a reliable internet connection.

Creating greater digital self-confidence!

The Digitruck offers three to four training sessions per day, each dedicated to a specific skill. Topics range from basic digital literacy—such as using devices, the internet, email, and online conferencing tools—to soft skills like drafting business documents, job searching online, launching an online business, and basic coding.

Launched in 2021, our France Digitruck has been bridging the digital divide across the country ever since. From Île-de-France to the landscapes of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and back to Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, the Digitruck is always on the move to empower people of all ages with essential digital skills, one stop at a time.
