In 2016, Close the Gap partnered with Deloitte Belgium to develop a Digitruck that delivers computers and internet access to students in South Africa’s Western Cape region. Initially, the truck was used for a program run by Quirky 30, a South African based organization that strives to create an inclusive economy by using technology to empower, advance and create sustainable livelihoods which will reduce the high levels of youth unemployment, crime and root out poverty. The Digitruck was installed in the township of Langa before being relocated to Philippi Village, where it now serves as a refuge for temporarily displaced families.

Embracing people living in vulnerable circumstances inside.

Once these families were able to return home, the Digitruck transitioned into a program dedicated to supporting vulnerable women. In addition to providing access to technology, the program offers ICT skills training on mobile devices, equipping participants with essential digital skills for greater opportunities.
